Higher Education Academy

HEA

We are a strategic institutional subscriber 2017-2018 to the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education. It works with universities, colleges, governments and sector agencies to bring about changes that improve teaching and the student learning experience.

On behalf of the sector, the HEA manages the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), the only national framework to offer professional recognition for teaching staff through continuing professional development (CPD), journals, research and surveys of students’ experiences.

It brings individuals and teams together to improve the quality of learning and teaching, shape policy and enhance practice.

The HEA also offers consultancy services which help universities and colleges in the UK and internationally to make strategic and practical changes to the way they work.

Our staff development programme includes a target for the achievement of UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) fellowships for all teaching staff through membership of the Higher Education Academy.

Our targets include all members of teaching staff becoming HEA Fellows.

LSBM's Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) supports teaching staff in their development. An annual Teaching and Learning Conference also provides a focus for staff development initiatives.

Learn more about our annual Teaching and Learning Conference here.

CETL supports and enhances teaching, as well as assisting staff in their applications to the Higher Education Academy.

This demonstrates that LSBM is fully committed to constantly improving our teaching standards, staff and student engagement, and this naturally filters down to better courses and a great learning experience for everyone.

90% of the permanent academic staff at LSBM are Fellows or Senior Fellows of the HEA, which is among the highest percentage of any institution of higher education.
