TEF Awards Announced

06 Jun 2018

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a Government initiative that aims to improve teaching standards in higher education.

It was introduced by the Government to build evidence about the performance of the UK’s world-class higher education sector, complementing the existing Research Excellence Framework with an analysis of teaching and learning outcomes.

The framework has been designed to assess higher education institutions against criteria including drop-out rates and progression to highly skilled employment. It is part of the government’s plans for raising standards in higher education and aims to give students more information so that they can make the most informed decisions when deciding which university to attend.

In addition to a general goal of raising teaching standards, the TEF is also designed to provide clear, understandable information to students about where teaching quality is outstanding. The implications of this are hoped to be the creation of a self-re-enforcing cycle of raised teaching standards across the educational establishment.

We are pleased to be able to share that the TEF Outcomes have just been announced today and that LSBM has been awarded a TEF Bronze Award.

Participation in the Teaching Excellence Framework is voluntary, and LSBM are proud to have placed ourselves in the spotlight alongside other far-sighted institutions of higher education who also look forward to having their high teaching standards assessed and recognised.
