LSBM UCAS Applicant Day - Thanks for Coming!

12 Apr 2018

LSBM was pleased to welcome over 50 of our prospective new students to our UCAS Applicant Day on 11 April 2018.

We believe it is important that all students make an informed choice about where they choose to study, as it is a decision that will impact on every aspect of their lives for years to come.

The key date when UCAS students need to have made their Firm choice on UCAS Track is Tuesday 1 May at midnight? (help with the process is available here).

So, ahead of that, we decided to make sure that they have all the information they need, by giving them the opportunity to visit our central London campus and experience for themselves the energy, excitement and practical reality of studying in the heart of our vibrant and diverse Capital city.

Welcoming the applicants to LSBM was Matt Jansen, Head of Student Recruitment and Marketing, supported by members of the Student Recruitment Team.

Matt spoke about the many advantages of choosing to study at LSBM, which included these five:

  • Amazing location in central London (with all the many job, networking and practical benefits that brings)
  • Cheaper fees (Save up to £12,000 over the lifetime of your course compared to other providers - typically £6,150 a year, compared to £9,250 at most universities)
  • Great support - Both from academic and professional staff throughout LSBM
  • A no-compromise top-class education - (our National Student Survey rating of 95.2% overall satisfaction amongst our students attests to how much they enjoy studying at LSBM)
  • A ready-made social scene - with Student Central on your doorstep and the LSBM Student Guild available to help you easily meet new people

LSBM are specialist providers of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in business management, law, and accounting and finance. So, we offer courses in a relatively small amount of subjects. This specialisation means that we are able to offer unparalleled support and high academic standards for considerably lower fees, while at the same time giving our students all the great benefits of being only a few minutes walk from the British Museum, central London shopping district and the theatre and entertainment hub of the UK (see a whole list of others here!)

After the introduction from Matt, the students then split up into two groups to enjoy a taster class in Law with Course Leader, LLM Law, Joe Stevens, and also in Business with Chris Munro, the Programme Leader for our BA (Hons) Business Management degree programmes.

(You can read details about all of our courses here.)

During this interesting session the students were split up into different groups to discuss a methodology for analysing various industry sectors, so that they could get a real-world feel for what a typical class might be like if they did choose to join us, as well as taking the opportunity to ask questions of the many current students who were present at the event to help out.

One of those students, Gaia Buttitta, was asked what she liked about LSBM, and had this to say about her experience of studying here:

"I'm studying Business Management now at LSBM and am in the first year of a three year course. I do enjoy it. I needed skills, practical skills to actually apply to work. And this programme was better for that. They teach you what you will need to work, what you will need in future, rather than just basic business knowledge. I mean, I was 17 when I started, and who would hire me at 20 years old with no experience and not many skills?

So that was my reasoning, and I'm really happy that I joined this course, because classes are small, and teachers are really there. They don't want you to fail, and you really feel it. It's not like high school. It's not like they call your parents. Honestly, I thought I might get bored, but I really enjoy it and they have really good teachers here."

We don't compromise on standards, and how we are perceived by our students is reflective of what we have to offer. So it's great to hear how much our students enjoy studying with us.

We would like to thank everyone who came along, and we hope you enjoyed the taster sessions, as well as the drinks and pizza after the taster sessions!

Remember, the deadline to accept your LSBM offer on UCAS Track is Tuesday 1 May at midnight.

So, please do it before then!

If there are issues which you would still like to discuss, queries, or niggling questions that you have, then please feel free to contact Matt Jansen at matt.jansen@lsbm.ac.uk or call him on 020 7078 8844, and he will be happy to answer your questions.

We look forward to welcoming many of you in October!
