Geraldine Murphy - Outstanding Contributor to Technology and Science

09 Jan 2018

The Learning Technology Team at LSBM is guided by constantly striving to improve the academic experience of our students, and is ably led by our Head of Teaching and Learning, Geraldine Murphy.

Geraldine doesn't seek out the limelight, but when you are doing outstanding work, sometimes it comes and finds you!

We are therefore pleased to announce that Geraldine has been nominated as a finalist for the 'Academic Award' in the '2018 FDM everywoman Technology Awards', which celebrates the brightest individuals who are changing the face of technology in the UK and beyond.

The remit for the 'Academic Award' is as follows:

"This is awarded to a woman in academia who has made an outstanding contribution to technology and science and whose work has made or has the potential to make a significant long-term impact in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). This could include using technology to enhance and support research and teaching, achieving technological breakthroughs or leveraging one’s position to significantly encourage more talent into STEM subjects."

Geraldine Murphy, Head of Teaching and Learning at LSBM had this to say about her nomination for the prestigious award:

"I am delighted to be named as a finalist in the Academic Category of the 2018 everywoman Awards, alongside two very inspiring women. It is an honour to be nominated for the work that I have been doing, in partnership with the Learning Technology Team, here at LSBM.

To be nominated for such an award, as a woman working in Technology, is a huge step in bridging the gender gap and encouraging other women to have the confidence to enter roles within the field."

The 2018 winners will be announced on 8 February 2018 at The London Hilton on Park Lane.

You can see a list of all the finalists here.

Fingers crossed for Geraldine!
