The Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey captures information on student activity after they have graduated. All students are asked to complete the survey six months after they complete their studies. This information is anonymised and is used to improve higher education policy and find better ways to inform and educate new students. Your own studies have been improved because of surveys like this.
DLHE is designed and strictly controlled by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), which state that every institution must report the results of the survey each year. To find out more about the survey itself, please look at the links at the bottom of this page, or download a pdf version.
The census date is a specific day and month roughly 6 months after a considered graduation period. These are:
January census date: for anyone who completed a course between 01 January and 31 July (collection period between November and March).
April census date: for anyone who completed a course between 01 August and 31 December (collection period between April and June).
We will be in touch to find out what you will be doing on this specific day (either January or April, depending on your course completion date/graduation), whether working, studying or something else.
Your input is vital.
You will be emailed a link to an online survey. The survey is quite straightforward and should take only a few minutes to complete. If we don't hear back from you, we will then try to reach you by telephone, or if you prefer we can send you a paper copy. Please send us an email asking for a paper copy, if that’s your preference, and it will be posted to you (email@example.com).
It is vital your contact details are up to date and you can check our Student Self-service Portal (SSP) to make sure yours are. If you are unable to access this please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your updated details.
If you do not wish to take part in the survey, please email email@example.com giving your student LON number and stating that you do not wish to participate in the survey. You will then be recorded as an explicit refusal to participate. (This is important so that we know not to contact you about it again).
Remember… Even when you have completed your course, our careers and employability staff are still available to help you with many of the career-related issues you might have. This service is available to you for up to 5 years upon your graduation date.
