Social Storm 2017
Social Storm is an out of the classroom, experiential learning activity, where participants are challenged to apply theory to a real life social problem.
We will develop your skills and knowledge and enable you to become future change makers.
In a 24-hour hackathon style event, participants will be working in teams to find a sustainable solution to one of the two challenges set.
This year's challenges are:
1/ Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable (SDG 11)
2/ Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (SDG 13)
Would you like to participate?
Can you use your skills and ideas to find solutions to real-world problems?
We’re looking for people who believe they can make a difference to society, from any background or degree discipline, to join our unique 24-hour event on 17-18 November.
You will be working in teams comprised of students from other universities, to find a sustainable solution to a real life problem, and submitting a video pitch to a team of judges.
LSBM is committed to the event and we are looking for individuals to take part.
If you a LSBM student who is excited at the thought of engaging actively in an event that gives so much not just to you, but the wider community, then you can contact Cal Courtney at firstname.lastname@example.org or Arif Zaman at email@example.com to talk about how you can get involved (the event also needs mentors, so if you are a staff member who wants to help young people to find solutions to societies problems then Cal and Arif would also love to hear from you).
Helen Ots, co-founder of Social Storm, visited LSBM in August 2017 to talk about the event and you can read what she had to say about Social Storm 2017 here.
