OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT
Student representation is an essential part of guaranteeing a great student experience for everyone.
The Student Guild is the official representative body for all LSBM students. It is funded by an annual grant from LSBM, but operates completely independently. It provides impartial advice and guidance to students, raises student concerns with LSBM staff and works collaboratively with the LSBM management and leadership team to give students the best student experience possible.
The Student Guild is led by the Student President, who is elected each year by the entire student body. The Student President is assisted by the Past President who retains a role in the leadership of the Guild so that the knowledge and insights they gained during their term of office can be passed on. In April each year a Student Vice-President is elected. The Vice-President spends a number of months preparing for the role of President by shadowing the incumbent President, and they formally take up office in the September following their election.
For the academic year 2016-17 (until September 2017), the Student President is Julian Owusu. Julian is a former Ghana U17 International Professional footballer who joined LSBM as a student in September 2015.
On Mon 10 April 2017, there was a vote to elect the Student Vice-President, who will shadow Julian through to September 2017, before then officially taking over as the new President for 2017/18 after that time.
The winner of that vote was Abul Hashem who beat Delon Jones by 198 votes to 166 (details here).
Abul has since had to withdraw from the post for personal reasons, and Delon Jones has since been confirmed in the role of Student Vice-President.
While the Student Guild is led by the Student President, it is managed by the Student Guild Manager. In September 2016, Faisa Warsama (who graduated from LSBM in 2016) was appointed to the role and her main focus is on ensuring that the strategic priorities set by the student body are delivered and that the system of student representation is healthy and thriving.
