World Mental Health Day - 10 Oct 2017

10 Oct 2017

The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year (here is how we covered the event last year).

The day provides an opportunity "for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide".

This year's theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health is mental health in the workplace.

Mental Health is a subject that LSBM takes very seriously. In September we welcomed Mel and Laura from the charity Rethink to train many of our staff, PAL representatives and student guild leaders in a Mental Health Awareness Training day.

Maria Jackson, Head of Quality at LSBM (and the arranger of the training) commented, "I attended the session on Tues 5 September and thought it was absolutely brilliant and others felt the same."

You can learn more about the support services Rethink offers in London here.

They also produce over 100 factsheets about all aspects of mental health that you can access for free.

LSBM has a dedicated Disability and Wellbeing Advisor, Dr Nadia Michail, who can provide further guidance should you need it: nadia.michail@lsbm.ac.uk.

You can also find more information about the work of our disability office here.

You can find more great resources about World Mental Health Day from the Mental Health Foundation, and the 'official' webpage for the day is on the World Health Organization page here.
